It is always advisable to wear protective eyewear when sewing, especially when using appliqué, free-motion, and embellishment techniques.

Notes: All fabrics should be 100% Cotton and prewashed. Backing may also be a coordinate to your border print. Appliqué fabrics can be solids, balis, hand dyes, marbles, etc…these all work well. Don’t be afraid to experiment! Fusible webbing should be a lightweight stitchable. Decorative threads to use are rayon such as Sulky decorative threads. Sliver metallic does not work well in this process. Polyester decorative threads also work well but care should be taken when ironing. You will mostly use threads that match your flowers and leaves to machine appliqué, and many matching, coordinating, and contrasting threads for the ‘thread painting’.
